The Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia (HCP) together with the Drexel University weServe group invite everyone to a follow up meeting on Friday February 12th, 2010.  HCP's medical team recently returned from Haiti and would like to provide an update on the state of the island nation and the use of the Infrascanner, a hand-held technology to detect bleeding in the brain, developed with students and faculty of the Drexel University's School of biomedical Engineering and donated to HCP by Infrascan. Another doctor from a small team of volunteer medical professionals flown to Haiti by the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia (HPP) will also speak about her recent trip to Haiti to provide medical assistance to the victims of the earthquake.


Furthermore, HCP will announce the donation of the Plasma Sterilization System from Drexel's Plasma Institute. The weServe team will also be presenting updates on proposed biomedical engineering projects in Haiti. HCP and weServe are partnering with different departments at Drexel University, Penn State Agriculture Department, and the Children Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. The groups invite everyone to participate in their long-term recovery program for Haiti.


Additionally, many Haitian organizations in Philadelphia are working with local agencies to provide support and services to critically injured Haitians who were flown to Philadelphia to receive intensive medical attention. EJF and HPP will announce how Philadelphians can help provide services to earthquake victims currently in the Philadelphia region.

The Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia's membership composes of representatives from the Haitian Catholic Community, Elise Joseph Foundation, Haitian Community Center of Philadelphia, Haitian Clergy Association,  Mayor's Commission of African and Caribbean immigrant affairs, Uncle Cid Foundation, the Association for the Development of Azile (ADA), the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia (HPP), the Northeastern Haitian Caucus of Christian Churches, Group Fraternity, Project Compassion, and the Haitian American Law Enforcement Association-Philadelphia (HALEA).

Mr. Momjian has served as the Honorary Consul for the Philadelphia region for the consulate of Haiti since 1978. He also serves as Chair of the Firm’s Family Law Department. A nationally renowned family law attorney regarded as the dean of the Pennsylvania family law bar, his practice encompasses complex cases involving divorce and domestic relations. In his capacity as Haitian Consul, Mr. Momjian spearheaded a significant donation of hospital equipment and supplies by the Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia to needy public hospitals in Haiti. He also has organized the annual “Haitian Night at the Sixers” so that the local Haitian children can attend a professional basketball game and meet Philadelphia 76ers center, Samuel Dalembert, the “Haitian Sensation”
