2014 Hotel Information

For our out-of-town visitors, we have reserved some rooms at the Marriott Courtyard in Willow Grove, PA.  This hotel is within 10 minutes of the gala event location.  Please book your stay no later than November 14, 2014, to guarantee that special rate.  Make it a mini-vacation.  Should you wish to extend your stay to visit Philadelphia, please do not hesitate to contact the Coalition prior to November 14.  We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia.   Your support is greatly appreciated.

2014 Fundraising Gala

This year’s gala will take place on December 6, 2014, at 8:30 p.m. at the Ukrainian Cultural Center at 700 North Cedar Road, Jenkintown PA, located only 20 minutes from Center City Philadelphia.  Tickets are at only $65/person.  Come learn how this organization has been able to touch many lives in Haiti only with a handful of volunteers.  We look forward to seeing you this year and we welcome your support of our continued work in Haiti.

2014 Equator Prize Winner

The Equator Initiative is pleased to announce today the winners of the Equator Prize 2014. Each of these thirty-five initiatives represents outstanding local achievement in advancing sustainable development solutions for people, nature and resilient communities.  
Mouvman Peyizan 3e Seksyon Kanperen (Farmer Movement of the 3rd Section of Camp-Perrin, in English) is one of the 7 winners in the Latin American and the Caribbean category.  If you like Yam, please read more about this great endeavour.  

Live and Hope Foundation Dinner

Live and Hope Foundation, a breast cancer awareness foundation, is holding its 2nd Masquerade fundraising dinner on August 16, 2014.  Men also have breast cancer.  So in honor of those of the world who are touched by breast cancer, please attend this event to assist them with their work in Haiti.  More information can be found at their website.

Annual BBQ

It is that time of the year again when we enjoy a nice afternoon of BBQ among friends.  This year’s BBQ is on August 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Sedgely Drive and Poplar Drive, in the Art museum area of Fairmount Park.  Please ensure that you check the list of items needed to make this event successful another year.  Your contribution to the bbq is greatly appreciated.  All Haitians, Haitians-at-Heart, Friends of Haiti are welcome.  See you soon.

Fête de Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours-Patron Saint of Haiti

In honor of the feast of the Patron Saint of Haiti, Father Alfred Lauricien, O.M.I., will hold a triduum (special prayers) on Thursday, June 26, at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, June 27, at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, June 28, at 4:00 p.m. at the National Shrine of St. John Neumann, located at 1019 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA  19123.  All are invited including non roman catholics to join in this special moment to pray for Haiti, its people, and especially for those who are currently residing there.  Please come all 3 days or one day depending on your schedule.

Flag Day Celebration

To celebrate the 210th anniversary of the Haitian Flag, the Haitian Community of Philadelphia has packed two days with events for all.  Free educational events will take place all day.  Vendors will be on premises to also showcase their crafts.

· On May 17, a soccer tournament with 6 teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Olney High School field at 100 W. Duncannon Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19120.

· On May 18, there will be a parade at 10:00 a.m., a mass service and cultural events in the afternoon at the St. Williams Church at 6200 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.  Free flags for all.

 Bring the entire family and have a great fun day.
